Chromium-based Pigments
Chromium-based pigments are inorganic pigments composed primarily of chromates. They comprise over twenty varieties across three main series—lead chrome yellow, molybdate orange/red, and anti-corrosive pigments—and are widely used in the paint (coating), plastic, rubber, and ink industries. They are characterized by high tinting strength, good stability, and excellent light and chemical resistance. Due to their inherent toxicity, their use is restricted to industrial applications; they cannot be used in sectors such as food or toys.
Cadmium-based Pigments
Cadmium-based pigments are inorganic pigments with cadmium sulfide as their primary component. They offer a broad color spectrum ranging from pale yellow to orange-red and red, extending to maroon; key varieties include cadmium yellow, cadmium orange, and cadmium red.
Cadmium-based pigments are prized for their vivid colors and excellent properties, including lightfastness, weather resistance, high-temperature stability, strong hiding power, high tinting strength, and resistance to migration and bleeding. They are widely used in plastics, coatings, masterbatches, rubber, leather, artists' pigments, gravure inks, high-end baking enamels, vitreous enamel, ceramics, glass, colored aggregates for construction, and the electronics industry. In terms of polymer coloration, they are compatible with virtually all resins and plastics.
